Crown Establishes New Museum by Proclamation

Prince David has signed an official proclamation which establishes a new Micronational Museum of Natural History, the first of what's expected to be in a series of museums that will be small in size but big on arts and sciences.

Marine fossils, to be among the first pieces exhibited.

Earlier this month, the official social media accounts for the Principality had posted that a new Natural History Museum was "coming soon", though the nature of the museum had not been fully revealed.  The proclamation states that the micromuseum will be virtual in nature, so that citizens near and far may enjoy the exhibits.

The Crown is estimated to hold hundreds of artifacts, including fossils, rocks, minerals, dried pressed plants, and wildflower photographs.  Most of these are expected to be transferred to the Micromuseum's collections, where they will be stored and curated into online exhibitions for the public.

New Masovia and USK Endorse Treaty of Mutual Recognition

New Masovia, January 31, 2022 -- The Principality of New Masovia and The United States of Kerban formally signed a treaty of mutual recognition days ago on January 29, 2022. This treaty comes after weeks of interaction between the two heads of state as they discussed many topics, including mass media in the microsphere, space programs, and most of all, overlaps in cultural background.

HRH Prince David spoke earlier today about the endorsement of the treaty between the two micronations. "New Masovia selects treaty partners carefully, showing preference to micronations that we actually interact with. We have the word, "friendship" embedded in our treaties for a reason. From the beginning, the United States of Kerban hit all the right marks with us. We couldn't be more pleased to announce that we formally recognize each other and look forward to many years of friendship."

From internet radio, to space exploration, to music, NM and USK have much in common.

The two leaders forged a friendship that crosses the Atlantic, with New Masovia being located in North America, and the United States of Kerban being located in mainland Europe. In the weeks leading up to the signing of the treaty, both leaders spent many hours sharing best practices in the realm of internet radio, a medium which both micronations have embraced prior to meeting. In addition, both micronations had coincidentally crossed paths in September 2021, as they both sent micronational artifacts up into outer space on the same Blue Origin space flight with the same astronaut, Dr. Chris Boshuizen. Finally, both leaders were pleasantly to find their shared affinity for highlander music originating from the Polish/Slovak border region.

Stanisław Bieliński, acting Secretary of state, added his own words, saying, "It is an absolute pleasure to include the United States of Kerban in New Masovia's sphere of diplomatic relations. We feel the best is yet to come."

Discussions with Lehmark Underway

The Flag of the Empire of Lehmark.

The New Masovian office of the Secretary of State announced earlier today that the Principality of New Masovia has entered into discussions with the Empire of Lehmark regarding a treaty of mutual recognition.  Stanisław Bieliński, acting Secretary of state, noted that conversations with the Empire of Lehmark had begun last fall, but were delayed due to heavy economic activity here at home over the fourth quarter of 2021.  Talks resumed this past week between New Masovia and Lehmark, and Bieliński said things were going well.

"New Masovia has a lot in common with Lehmark in terms of social progressiveness, among other traits," said Bieliński.  "They have already recognized other micronations related to the Polish Diaspora, and we find this very meaningful and promising."  Talks will continue into January until a final treaty has been signed by both parties.

New Land Claims for New Masovia

In the month of September, The Principality of New Masovia made two formal land claims, with the explicit purpose of promoting outdoor recreation in the surrounding region. The first claim to be made involves 2,100 acres known to the general public as the UConn Forest, and the second claim involves a parcel of 108 acres on the Willimantic Dome, generally known as Wolf Rock Nature Preserve.

New Masovia's acting Minister of Land Management,
Szczepan Jedliński, explained in a press conference earlier today, that these green spaces would be open to all. "There is so much natural beauty in these new regions of New Masovia. We want our visitors to enjoy them as much as we do." When asked if these spaces would be converted to National Parks, complete with ticketed admission, gift shops, and concession stands, Jedliński said, "Open to all means open to all, though a soft-serve kiosk never hurts. Postcards may be a possibility down the road."

New Masovia Announces Beautification Program

Maybe you've noticed a few more flowers around the Principality. Or even something as simple as a new plot of grass. This is no coincidence, as the Ministry of The Interior has launched a new beautification program, callede 22 For 2022, a new program designed to bring new green spaces to New Masovia.
Acting Secretary of the Interior, Izabela Strzelecka, described the program in greater detail. "The inception of the idea for 22 For 2022 was to plant 22 new shrubs or perennials on the Royal Estate between September 2021 and the end of the planting season for 2022. In the first month alone, we have already installed nine plantings, with just thirteen to go, and several more on deck before the end of the year. But the plan calls for more than just new plants. Mammoth Steppe restoration, drainage improvements, and a new Arboretum are also in the works." Citizens are encouraged to take part in this new by beautifying their own properties for the good of all in New Masovia.

IPCC Issues Dire Warnings on Climate Change

GENEVA, August 9, 2021 - The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its latest report, sounding the alarm on the dangers of climte change facing the planet in the near term.  Using the strongest language of any previous IPCC report, the opening statement of the 2021 report summary stated, "It is unequivocal that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, ocean and land."  UN Secretary-General António Guterres has described the report as a "code red" warning for humanity.

The report itself is nearly 4,000 pages long, and it cites nearly 14,000 peer-reviewed scientific studies.  It paints a grim picture of what's to come and lays the blame squarely on the use of fossil fuels since the industrial revolution began.  Perhaps the most alarming finding is that even if the rate at which the planet is warming were halted, sea levels will continue to rise up to 10 feet into the 21st century, making this a near-irreversible trend.

Following the release of the IPCC report, the UN Secretary General António Guterres issued a statement.  In it, he stated, "Today’s IPCC Working Group 1 report is a code red for humanity.  The alarm bells are deafening, and the evidence is irrefutable:  greenhouse‑gas emissions from fossil-fuel burning and deforestation are choking our planet and putting billions of people at immediate risk.  Global heating is affecting every region on Earth, with many of the changes becoming irreversible."

New Masovia's Ministry of Public Relations said late today that Prince David is reviewing the report and will be issuing a statement in the near future. In the interim, he said, "Citizens and friends of New Masovia should take the time to review the summaries on the report, so that we can all begin to process the gravity of the situation and begin to make changes, as remediation of climate change is up to all of us.  Once our government has reviewed the report, our Ministry of Arts & Sciences will be offering guidance to our citizens in ways they can help."

New Masovia Plants Itself Into Existence

NEW MASOVIA, July 1, 2021 -- Staff reporters of the Micronational Telegraph have learned of a new micronation, situated in northeastern Connecticut, within the United States.

The New Masovian flag and land claim.

On July 1, 2021, the Principality of New Masovia declared its existence via land claim using nothing more than a flag planted in the ground. The creation of the new micronation was done without a formal, written declaration independence. Raucous celebrations erupted as people took to the streets of New Masovia to cheer the beginning of a new era.

Later that day, photos of a red, yellow, and blue flag, firmly planted in the ground, made its way quickly around social media. A Facebook page soon followed, indicating that the new country would be an absolute monarchy, with its sovereign prince already determined. The method in which the prince was selected has yet to be determined.
